4 stars based on the location in French Lick/West Baden. If it were in Dallas, I'd say 3 stars. But hey, when in a small town, you take anything good and go with it! This is actually a decent place to eat. The food is fairly typical tex-mex-y americanized fare, which means lots of cheese and sauce. Hey, that's FINE BY ME! Bring on the cheesy goodness! Their salsa is mediocre. It is very bland and really needs some onions and some heat to spruce it up. The chips are average, but plentiful. I had the fajitas, which actually were really, really tasty. I asked for ranchera sauce on the side, to which he said I couldn't have any, so I said "enchilada sauce, then" and he said "OK!". I never did get any sauce of any kind. Still, the fajitas were good. Order lots of extra tortillas, because you only get TWO with a full order of fajitas! (Really?!?! TWO!?!?) Service was quick and friendly and the bill was reasonable. I will definitely keep it on my list when in town again.

Clean restaurant. Slow service for our drinks but the food came out almost immediately following our drinks. Chilequilas are outstanding. We had several people order vegetarian entrees and they are good as well. Empty plays all the way around.

Goddam that was some good shit. Eat here and be happy, my Yelp children. You can tell a lot from a Mexican place by their salsa and chips, which are quite delicious here. I had the chicken fajita salad - fantastic. Also, if you have a birthday they'll give you a free scoop of ice cream. Not too bad, not too bad at all.

Good food, but service was slow and uncertain/disorganized. We had to ask for a drink three times. Told to get our own napkins.

It was very good food- I order a dish and a grilled taco on the side. I didn't eat a lot cause of the smell of the restaurant. The smell was making me ill. What I tasted, was very good. Great prices and server was ok (she was a little rude in the beginning). The have a great way to celebrate birthday there.

Absolutely disgusting. Ordered a burrito supreme. It was covered in army green guacamole that tasted like the disgusting imitation guac goop from a tub in the grocers. That, and the kakhi colored liquid cheese splattered all over it as well which I've heard is called "queso" in the south. I think it was the of the few times in my life I considered taking a bite and walking out. At least the chicken inside seemed warm enough to be sanitary. Sadly, both the burrito and the fajita quesadilla both had fajita style mix in it. WTF? One of the worst meals of my life -- including Military MREs, mountain house and mexican food from OREGON. My date's quesadilla was about the same except for the insides were just swimming with the kakhi colored puss instead. After eating mexican food from san diego and tijuana for long peroids of time I guess I just couldn't stomach such an abortion here. Something frozen and microwaved from a gas station or grocery store would have been a lot better. Yelp, you screwed me over today -- and I did too by not walking out. Though, the service was ok...sadly, that doesn't matter. You've been warned.

When we walked in the door we were smacked in the face with the smell of cleaning agent to the point of giving my husband a headache. Don't get me wrong, we definitely appreciated the place being clean, but the smell was overwhelming. Once we were seated we were given the traditional chips and salsa that's given to you by any good Mexican restaurant. I personally hate chunky, spicy salsa and this stuff was exactly the opposite. It was very smooth and had just the right amount of spice. I really liked it. The chips were also very good. Our main courses were very hot and huge proportions. I had the shrimp chimichanga. I did notice the filling was not evenly distributed throughout. It seemed the shrimp was on both ends and the peppers and onion were all in the middle, but the flavor was great. My husband had chicken enchiladas with mole. He really enjoyed it! The overall price was also very reasonable for the amount of food.

Very few nice things to say about this restaurant. Which upon discussing them over with the party of four I was with, they do all seem minuscule: -The guy to appeared to be the manager standing at the host stand and did not greet us upon entry -Server dropped a lime from glass and said "oh, you can take one off this other glass", instead of offering to get a replacement (she wasn't busy this was lazy) -then, we requested substitutions to the lunch or dinner and though she admitted to not being a hundred percent on the restaurants policy she said we had to pay the ala carte price for substitutions and never asked the management for clarification - (again her being lazy). -AND to them "salad dressing on the side" equates to an individual "Hidden Valley" packet of salad dressing sitting atop the salad upon arrival similar to finding a 'cherry on a ice cream sunday'. While we may not have received a hello greeting when we arrived, we did receive a goodbye from our server as she lounged across the seating area near the hostess stand during our exit (lazy again) With all these minor things you would like to at least say the margaritas were good...sadly, those also fell short:-/ These improvements could be made with attitude readjustments. We have had better food and service else where in West Baden and Frenchlick and will pass on Mexican food the next time we are in the area.

Again Yelp nails my overall experience with their two-star "Meh. I've experienced better" rating. This was not terrible by any stretch and if you are dying for Mexican and not willing to drive far from the French Lick Resort, this place will certainly do. But it is only ok. The chips and salsa were good and they had a nice selection of Mexican sodas and margaritas. But the food was very bland. It did not taste bad, it just didn't taste like ANYTHING. I ordered a bowl of the "Mexican style" chili. It had no beans and no tomatoes. It just looked and tasted like ground beef enchilada meat with lots of sauce. At least it was topped with cheese and served with plenty of crackers. I ordered the beef taco and beef enchilada. Again came the exact same beef and sauce mixture as I'd just had in the chili. The portions were fine, the quality was fine, but just not flavorful or stand out. We have been to French Lick a dozen times and finally tried this place. I think it will be our last visit unless I have a craving for tacos that just can't wait until I get home.

It is what it is. A run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant in French Lick/West Baden. At least it's different than the usual fare in the area. And it's probably the only Mexican restaurant within 20 miles. So go for a little variety and mediocre enchiladas, burritos, chips and salsa. It's located in a dreary strip mall on the main highway that connects French Lick and West Baden.

We needed a place to eat in French Lick as the restaurants in the hotels were a bit pricy. My mother doesn't like Mexican but we thought we'd try it anyway. We liked it a lot and would eat there again when in French Lick. Portion size good (too much like everything nowadays), prices very good, friendly place, everyone seemed to know the waiters as they must have been regulars.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm.... I have to admit, small, highly hick, semi-white-trash towns and Mexican restaurants, kind of scare me... but it wasn't my pick so I can roll with the punches! I had a special request steak filled chimichanga and my boyfriend had a wet burrito. My Chimi was deliciouso and the wet burrito was served up on a plate that could have held a med pizza and wast loco bueno!!! I have yet to find a wet burrito close to home like this! I wouldn't drive 3 hours for the food, but if I am ever back in the area, I could deff drop in for a big bite!

We went in around 7 pm. Good, visible location. Once we got inside, very dim lighting. They had 2 big TV. They put the game on when we requested, thanks. We had to wait long time to order, get our plates, and finally get our check. But the food was good for a Mexican restaurant in middle of no where. Very slow service.

While staying at Big Splash Adventure my husband and I decided Mexican food sounded good for dinner. We've been to plenty of mexican restaurants (bc my husband is Hispanic) and this was by far the worse one I've been to. Neither one of us finished our meals. Highly recommend to spend your money somewhere else.

Great service. Great margarita. Great food. Only thing holding it back is salsa. Tastes like mushed up tomatoes. Needs some more onions, cilantro jalepenos etc.

Wife and I stopped in for lunch. The food was the normal good Mexican food that we have experienced at other places but the price and portions were really good. For a Mexican place in the middle of southern Indiana it was pretty good.

Best Mexican food in the area. We come here every time we're in the area. Margaritas on the rocks are perfect!

Came here Sunday night because were STARVING and left very full and satisfied. We initially came just for tamales, but once we sat down we decided we would have a full dinner, too. The pork tamales are fantastic. They are huge and covered in a delicious red sauce. Dave got the enchiladas rancheros, which I wasn't a big fan of, but he really liked them. I got the shrimp quesadillas, which certainly made up for my awful shrimp meal I had earlier in the day. The guac that came with both meals was also very yummy. As leery as we were of a Mexican restaurant in French Lick, it was well worth it.

The kid upfront did not give a very good 1st impression. He asked the same people three times what they were waiting on. The same guy waiting next to me was waiting for 40 minutes for his take out. The concierge at our hotel said that it is always packed, and she was right. There was a wait....but there were open tables everywhere. They were way understaffed. My waiter was about 16 or 17 yrs old, but he did do a good job. The chips were okay, but my wife LOVED the salsa. The food really was excellent. I can't say ANYTHING at all bad about that. My wife definitely wants to come back.

Salsa was just tomatoes; no onions, cilantro, or taste. Tostado was okay and husband's quesadilla had no meat in it. Not that great for the favorable reviews we had read.

Considering how small French Lick/West Baden is (are) this is a really good Mexican Restaurant. They've got all the standard fare, plus some new ones (I've had chile Colorado before, but they make a Quesadilla out of theres!) even Mexican spins on catfish. Good prices, good portions. Had takeout so I can't really comment on service, but the guy at the counter was nice.

We have been here many times and the food was about average. Lately it seems to have taken a turn for the worse. I ordered grilled chicken tacos. I was served stewed chicken that had absolutely no flavor, and had never seen the grill. When I told our "server" that it wasn't grilled, she begged to differ. Anyway, if you are craving something a little better than your average fast food Mexican, you may want to pass this one by, for now. There aren't many choices in this small town, so they may be able to get by with mediocrity.

Great Mexican food at an affordable price, Miguel's is not like large Mexican food chains. Their food is carefully made, the atmosphere is great, and the service is even better. Would definitely recommend for a date or other social gathering.

Went on a Sunday night with a party of 6. It was moderately busy, but there we're plenty of open seats. Waited around 10 minutes for a seat, around 25 minutes for someone to actually take our order, and 25 minutes for the food to arrive. Didn't plan on dinner being an hour and 45 minute affair. That being said the food was good and the service was friendly despite being slow. Salsa was a little runny for my taste, like it a bit chunkier. Prices we're reasonable for the area and quality. They were out of Draft beer, had to settle for a bottle. Might have been short staffed that night, but the experiance was ridiculously slow. I'm used to ridiculously fast service at my local mexican cuisine establishments; this was the polar opposite.

I really like this place. The food is good and everything is reasonably priced. You can get 2 entrees and a pitcher of beer for a really good value. I make sure to eat here several times year.

Typical mid-western Mexican place located in a small strip mall just past the French Lick Springs hotel. We stopped in for a late lunch and we were the only customers in the place. The food was okay, nothing special and the server did a good job. The one weird thing was the lighting, it was really, really dim, even during the day. Maybe they were trying to save on their electric bill? Probably would try again for an earlier lunch or maybe even dinner, but only because of the lack of dining options in the area.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
